Health Education, sometimes called Health Promotion, is a discipline dedicated to providing education through classroom presentations and experiences, interactive learning, awareness campaigns, and events to teach students about health and wellness topics.
Our goal is to enhance student learning and personal development through health education and promotion. We strive to promote the health of the overall campus community through primary prevention and health services.
Health Education is dedicated to reaching LU and LIT's students through several outreach efforts.
While we are always seeking to grow this list, our current efforts and collaborative relationships include:
Wellness Packs for students in need of hygiene & health supplies* | Partnering with Legacy Community Health & TAN for free STI clinics | Hosting annual AFSP Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention |
Recurring Holistic Health & Wellness Fair | Partnering with LIT Dental Hygiene Program to refer students for cleanings and exams | Mental Health First Aid Training for Staff through Spindletop Beaumont |
*If you are a faculty or staff member at the LU or LIT campus and know of a student in need, please visit this link on LUHub to refer a student for a wellness pack.
The LU Health Education Department is home of the HealthyCards!
By joining the HealthyCards Program, a student is able to work a paid position or to volunteer to join in on any of our programs that we host throughout the year.
